Due Process issues in China organized by Asian Human Rights Commission

for Cambodia organized by Asian Human Right Commission at Hong
Kong.
7-13 May 1998: Mr. Sok observed election in Manila, Philippines,
as International Observer.
17-28 November 1998: Mr. Sok joined a Seminar on DEMOCRATIZATION
and HUMAN RIGHTS organized by the Asian Human Rights Commission,
in Hong Kong.
16-20 December 1998: Mr. Sok was invited as an international expert
on Election to participate the Regional Forum on Election Law
in Asia and SEMINAR ON INDONESIAN ELECTION LAW organized by the
Asian Network for Free and Fair Election (ANFREL) in Jakarta,
Indonesia.

2-9 February 1999: Mr. Sok joined a Seminar on POLICE REFORM in
Cambodia organized by the Asian Human Rights Commission in Hong
Kong.
23-28 March 1999: Mr. Sok joined a Seminar on LEGAL REFORM in
Cambodia organized by the Asian Human Rights Commission in Hong
Kong.
9-12 June 1999: Mr. Sok was invited as a panelist in the PRACTITIONER'S
FORUM ON LEGAL AID IN SOUTHEAST ASIA AND CHINA organized by the
International Human Rights Law Group and the Asian Human Rights
Commission in Bangkok, Thailand.

2000

March 2000: Mr. Sok attended United National Conference on Human
Rights at Geneva, Switzerland.
13-20 May 2000: Mr. Sok organized a visit with three high rank
officials from Ministry of Interior of Cambodia to study Police
System in Copenhagen, Denmark. The visit was funded by the Danish
Center for Human Rights.
7-17 July 2000: Mr. Sok was invited by the Asian Human Rights
Commission as legal experts in Cambodia to participate the FIFTH
ASIAN CONSULTATION ON DUE PROCESS ISSUE in Bangkok. The consultation
was focusing on legal system in China.
22-24 November 2000: Mr. Sok participates in a Workshop on Legal
and Judicial Reform in Cambodia organized by the Danish Institute
for Human Rights in Copenhagen, Denmark. They were discussing
how to present Strategies for Legal Reform to the Cambodian Government.

2001

06-11 March 2001: Mr. Sok participated in an International Symposium
on Police Reform organized by the Danish Institute for Human Rights,
at Copenhagen, Denmark. He gave a speech on police reform in Cambodia.
11-18 March 2001: Mr. Sok lead a group of Cambodian Judges and
lawyers to visit Indian Court at New Delhi, India.
29 Apr-5 May 2001: Mr. Sok participated in the 6th Asian Consultation
on Due Process issues in China held in Bangkok, Thailand. It was
organized by the Asian Human Rights Commission.
8-12 July 2001: Mr. Sok was invited by the World Bank and the
Russian Government to participate and give a speech on Legal Aid
in an International Conference on Judicial Reform. It was held
in Saint Pertersberg, Russia.
15-26 September 2001: Mr. Sok participated in a CONFERENCE ON
LEGAL MEDICINE IN AUSTRALIA, Melbourne, Australia. It was organized
by Australian Government.
4-9 December 2001: Mr. Sok participated in Legal Aid Conference
and gave a speech on Legal Aid and Obstacles in Cambodia. It was
held in Tokyo, Japan, and organized by Japanese Bar Association.

21-24 March 2002: Mr. Sok participated in a Workshop on Judicial
Independence in Asia, organized by ADB and the Asia Foundation
in Bangkok, Thailand.
27-28 May 2002: Mr. Sok participated in a SYMPOSIUM ON REACH OF
LAW IN PACIFIC RIM organized by Canadian Law Society. It was held
in Vancouver, Canada.
23-26 July 2002: Mr. Sok participated in an Interim Workshop on
Judicial Independence in Asia, in Manila, Philippines.

28 June-5 July 2003: Mr. Sok was invited by GTZ (German) to visit
Germany and study about legal system and domestic violence in
Germany.
6-9 August 2003: Mr. Sok participated in an International Symposium
on Judicial Independence in Asia organized by Asian Development
Bank and the Asia Foundation. Mr. Sok was a Country Report on
Independence of Judiciary for Cambodia.

6-9 Dec 2004: Mr. Sok was in Thailand as an International Observer
for General Election.

6-9 Dec 2005: Mr. Sok participated the Human Rights Day at Gwangju,
South Korea. He wrote a paper on Human Rights in Cambodia and
gave a speech on Right to Life.

May 2007: Mr. Sok was invited to join Conference on Media Litigation
Defense in Hong Kong. He has a speech on Litigation relating to
Media in Cambodia.

CDP AS REPRESENTATIVE OF CIVIL SOCIETY
|
|
Mr. Sok Sam Oeun was selected as representatives of Civil Society
to join the Consultative Group Meeting between Cambodian Royal
Government and Donors in 2000 in Paris, France, and in 2002 in
Phnom Penh.
In 2005, Mr. Sok Sam Oeun was selected to be a member of the Working
Group to draft the Anti-Corruption Law. The working group comprises
of some members from the Government, experts from PACT as international
experts, and two from Cambodian local NGOs, Mr. Heav Veasna from
CSD and Mr. Sok.

INTERNATIONAL AWARDS

Since 1994, CDP won two international awards:
1. The Award of Defender of the Year presented by California Defender
Association in April 1995, and
2. The International Human Rights Award presented by the American
Bar Association in August 2002.
