The legal department is headed by the Chief Technical Advocate, Mr. Kong Pisey, and co-ordinates all projects and legal activities in the organization. It currently has a staff of 9 lawyers, as well as 9 local and international interns who work voluntarily to help the department and gain experience. The Department is organized into head office teams provincial office teams and special projects [such as Legal Awareness, Women's Resource Center (WRC) and the Center Against Trafficking (CAT)].
The Legal Department accepts serious human rights violation cases, both criminal and civil, in accordance with CDP's Case Intake Policy. Cases are assigned to the Department's lawyers by the Chief Technical Advocate. The Department is currently handling about one thousand cases, many of which carry great legal significance.
