Mr.
Kong Pisey was born on 10 August 1962 in Kampong Chhnang.
He began his legal education in 1988 at Site 2 refugee camp in
Thailand, where he participated in three separate legal education
programs. Mr. Kong worked as a prosecutor at the Dong Rek Site II Court
while he was studying, from 1988 to 1991, and completed his studies in
1992.
Between 1992 and 1994 he worked in Banteay Meanchey province with
the UNTAC Human Rights and UNTAC Civpol Department. After he completed
his UNTAC work in 1994, Mr. Kong joined the newly created CDP and,
following the defender training course, represented poor people in a
wide range of civil and criminal cases. He completed the Cambodian Bar
Association training program in 1999, and is now a CDP lawyer handling strategic human rights cases.
As the Chief Technical Advocate, he is primarily responsible for supervising CDP's lawyers in order to insure
the delivery of high quality and professional legal service in accordance with the organisation's mission and objectives.
