On Friday 21 January 2011, there was a meeting between representatives of Ministry of Interior of Cambodia and the representatives of civil society to discuss on draft of Law on Association and NGOs (NGO Law). Representatives of Ministry of Interior have seven high rank officials lead by HE. Nuth Sa An and HE Sieng Lapresse. Representatives of Civil Society are Mr. Bo Rithy and Mr Soeung Saroeun (from CCC), Dr. Sin Somony (from Medicam), Mr. Chhith Sam Ath (from NGO Forum), Director of British OXFAM and his interpretor, and two from CHRAC, Mr. Ny Chakriya (from ADHOC) and Attorney SOK Sam Oeun, Director of CDP.

The meeting spent for whole day (from 8 to 12:30 and from 2:30 to 5:30pm). All provisions and recommendations from 10 January Workshop were discussed and compromised by both sides. However, the privisions relating to foreign organizations have not yet been discussed because Minitry of Interior said that they were under jurisdiction of Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Some provisions spent for hours before compromising. However, we, representatives from civil society cann accepted if those modified provision will not be changed.

At last Ministry of Interior promises that they will provide us the final version of the draft when it will be sent to the Council of Ministers.
